Hi, I'm Amya ("uh-my-uh")

I'm a university communications leader turned UX designer with 9+ years of interdisciplinary experience designing digital products and services. Seeing the influence that well-designed technology can have in education led me to the field of human-computer interaction (HCI) and user experience.

Throughout my career I've accumulated a diverse range of skills that now shape my unique approach to product design. My interdisciplinary background in communications, design and front-end development enable me to create compelling, user-centered design solutions.

I've also been able to work on many UX projects—often as the sole or lead designer—while working with diverse teams spanning business and engineering functions across organizations.

Currently, I'm a UX Designer at Deloitte, where I play a pivotal role in enhancing digital experiences for a national healthcare provider serving over 12 million members. In this capacity, I design and ship web and mobile product enhancements, collaborating with engineering and product partners to consistently meet product OKRs and strategic objectives.

I have a BA in Communication from the University of Southern California, a MS in Graphic Information Technology from Arizona State University, and recently graduated with my Master's in Human Computer Interaction + Design from the University of Washington. In the future, I look forward to exploring emerging technologies and their applications, and am especially interested in equity-centered design.

In my spare time I enjoy making things, learning new skills, playing tennis, thrifting, reading, and listening to podcasts.
